NOAA Weather Radio from National Weather Service

As yet another massive storm system brings tornados across the Midwest leaving a wake of destruction in its path, the National Weather Service experts are strongly urging consumers to invest in a NOAA Weather Radio which provides for severe weather alerts and warnings from the National Weather Service.

For the second time this week, the Midwest is getting hammered as towns like Henryville, Indiana are literally flattened by massive tornados spawned out of a giant fast moving severe weather system. While warning sirens signaled the danger associated with the approaching storms, and news stations issues tornado warnings and tornado watches, much of the devastation in recent days has occurred in the middle of the night.

Many sleeping residents were unaware of the approaching danger. Warning sirens are meant to be heard outdoors, however a NOAA weather radio is designed to work inside of the home and wake a sleeping person, perhaps saving their life.

The NOAA weather radios are relatively cheap costing about $30 or less and are typically available at a number of local retail stores and of course are for sale online. The radios can be set to alert you for approaching severe weather like tornados based on your county or other locality.

The NOAA weather radios are designed to give individuals the time they need to take life saving action by alerting them to dangerous weather in their local area, and can wake you up when danger approaches in the middle of the night.
